Name: Abby Samaha

Position: Social Media Team

I am currently a junior at the university majoring in Communicative Disorders with a minor in History, ultimately pursuing a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. I became interested in print and digital media after I was given the opportunity to write a series of articles for a New Orleans newspaper. The love for editorial-style writing that I found while writing those articles is why I chose to be a part of Mosaic this semester, and I look forward to learning more about the journalism process since it is something I don’t see in my normal coursework. I am excited to be a part of the digital media team in order to broaden my knowledge of the publication process beyond being a writer. In addition to Mosaic, I am involved in the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), and I am a lab assistant in the SCEN Psychology lab here on campus. While I love all things Alabama, my roots are in New Orleans. I enjoy doing everything NOLA including parading, enjoying authentic southern cooking, and (most importantly) cheering on the New Orleans Saints on Sundays. Distance has made my heart grow fonder for the Saints, and I have become quite an avid football fan. Whether it be the Tide or the Saints playing, you will find me talking to my TV as if the players can hear me. On weekends without football, you can find me drinking coffee with my friends or baking something sweet. If you ever see me passing by, a quick “Who Dat” or “Roll Tide” will definitely put a smile on my face!
