Name: Sam Dueringer

Position: Design Team

Hi, my name is Sam Dueringer, and I’m a member of Mosaic’s Design Team. I’m a Junior at the University of Alabama majoring in Advertising with a minor in Psychology. I like to tell people I’m from Chicago because it’s more well-known than my small town of Lake Bluff, IL, where everyone knows everyone. I often enjoy taking the train downtown with my friends. We explore all the unique restaurants (not just the Chicago-style pizza), daze at the Oak Street Beach, and shop from Michigan Avenue’s magnificent mile to Wicker Park’s artsy thrift shops.

I moved a lot as a kid, starting in my birthplace, Portland, OR, and weaving around the midwest and south. I decided to head to the south for college because of the great weather and the southern charm. I’m the middle child in a family of five with an older sister, a younger brother and two adorable dogs. Barclay is a 16-year-old Golden Retriever who still loves running outside, and Bo is a five-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever who is obsessed with playing catch. I enjoy thrift shopping, playing with my dogs, painting, and watching The Office on repeat in my free time.

I’m the Director of Banners for my sorority, Delta Gamma. Along with this, I’m one of the Awareness Committee Heads for Alzheimer’s Ends Here, an organization I am passionate about and want to help raise funds to find a cure.

Through my college experience, I’m excited to find a passion for pursuing as my career that I will look forward to every day. I decided to major in Advertising to utilize my creative side and chose a minor in psychology to understand human behavior as related to advertising. I’m excited to be part of the Mosaic staff again and collaborate with my peers to create a magazine that makes an impact at the University of Alabama and beyond.
