Name: Sami LaCount

Position: Photography

Hello there! I’m Sami LaCount, a current Junior majoring in Creative Media and minoring in Spanish at the University of Alabama. I am from De Pere, Wisconsin which is a small city located right outside of Green Bay (Go Pack Go!).

Growing up, my dad was constantly taking pictures of my brother and me as well as being the co-owner of a full-service video production company. Because of this, I was interested in cameras from a very young age. He taught me the basics of cameras and photography, and then in high school I expanded my knowledge through photography classes. I was also a huge fan of movies and television shows as a kid. Back when the majority of movies were watched on DVDs, I would always look to see if they included a blooper reel or a behind the scenes video. I was fascinated with the production process of visual storytelling and knew I wanted to be a part of that world. I’m truly my happiest when I’m behind the camera capturing a unique moment.

When I’m not creating, I love to relax with a good book or rewatch my favorite comfort shows (New Girl and Community to be exact). I also love to stay active through lifting weights, swimming, and rowing.

I’m so excited to be a part of Mosaic’s first all-female team this semester, and I can’t wait to see what we create!
