Best Buddies UA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a volunteer movement globally that creates opportunities for friendships and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The University of Alabama chapter of this organization matches people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and college students to create one-one friendships. In the past, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities haven’t had the opportunity to have friends outside of their own, very often isolated, environment. By becoming a College Buddy, volunteers provide the chance for their Buddy to explore life in a new way.
