It is widely accepted that music can produce a calming effect. There is a plethora of research that shows that music has tremendous benefits to relaxing the mind.
A study done at Stanford University concluded that “listening to music seems to be able to change brain functioning to the same extent as medication.” Music around 60 beats per minute is optimal for calming the brain. In addition to its soothing effects, music has been shown to lead to reduced cortisol levels, benefits in mental health treatments, reduced burnout, reduced depression, help falling asleep, and also coping with the pandemic.
