Name: Kirstyn Corbett

Position: Digital Editor

Hey there! My name is Kirstyn Corbett and I’m a junior here at The University of Alabama studying public relations with a minor in digital, public and professional writing. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and plan to once again call the city home in a short three semesters. While I have been loving my time in the south, I’m a midwesterner at heart and dearly miss eating gooey butter cake, having an actual Autumn and making late-night Quik Trip runs.

Despite my tendency to complain about being busy, I love being busy. Outside of classes, I’m a senior copywriter for Capstone Agency, an editor for Her Campus, a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and an avid reader. Beneath the surface, I’m a pluviophile, book lover, creative writer, coffee fanatic and obsessed with the season of fall. Don’t tell anyone, but contrary to my public relations degree, I’m also a lover of the oxford comma.

I’m very lucky to be able to pursue a career that doubles as my life’s passion. I’ve had a passion for writing and reading since I first learned how to do it and I’ve been inseparable from pen and paper since. My love of writing has always been prevalent, but this drive truly bloomed when I joined the yearbook and newspaper staff in my junior year of high school. In my senior year of high school, I served as the Co-Editor-In-Chief of both the yearbook and newspaper and fell so in love with writing articles and designing spreads that I knew I needed a career that was equally as creatively stimulating. This ever-growing love of writing led me to major in public relations, as it allows me to pursue my passions of writing, communication, creativity and media.

While I love strategic and social writing, my true love of writing falls into the creative genre. I hope to pursue a career as an author on the side and eventually publish a novel or two or six. Catch me on the shelves of Barnes and Noble one day!
