Name: Tyler Barnes

Major: Chemical Engineering

What are your plans after graduating?: After graduating I am planning on going to medical school and becoming a doctor.

Why did you choose to join the Honors College? I chose the honors college because I wanted the chance to challenge myself academically while also pursuing a more balanced and well rounded education. I knew the Honors college would not only benefit me while at UA, but for the years to come in the professional world as well.

What was your favorite class you’ve taken with the Honors College and how has that class impacted you since you took it?: My favorite honors course was A Republic if You Can Keep It with Dr. Witt. The class challenged some of my thoughts about the US government and made me think and learn about things I never would have come into contact with in my major’s curriculum. I also learned how to convey my own opinion and to keep an open mind about other’s viewpoints.

What will you take from the Honors College into your life beyond graduation?: The Honors College has given me a better understanding of who I am as a person as well as an increase in curiosity to the world around me. I believe I will leave UA with a complete education rather than just knowledge about my major.
