The idea of Barbie has changed throughout time and has now established itself as a woman or girl who can do anything they put their mind to. Barbie can be anything: an astronaut, lawyer, doctor, fairy princess. How can we translate that to real life? We can realize that there are women like this in real life. Dr. Catherine J. Randall is the embodiment of this “Barbie” mindset. Dr. Randall has done and continues to do so much with her life. Although she’s not an astronaut or a fairy princess, she is so much cooler. Dr. Randall has been a research program director, news anchor, board member on charitable organizations, mother, wife, and overall amazing human being among other things.

When I approached this story, I really wanted to do Dr. Randall justice, which made me really nervous because of all her accomplishments and her sterling reputation. Everything I had heard about her was so positive. She was described as “literally the sweetest person you’ll ever meet,” intelligent, involved, and committed to bettering her community and the lives of others. I had never heard so many wonderful things about a person, so admittedly, I was a little skeptical that someone could be all that. However, through interviewing her, I learned that she is all that and so much more. I hope that you can see what an amazing and accomplished person she is in our interview below.
