STORY AND PHOTOS BY
KINSEY STANLEY

We live in a connected world where we have the opportunity to communicate with people on the other side of the planet every day. As a result, it is becoming increasingly more important that we have an understanding and appreciation of cultures other than our own. The University of Alabama is fortunate enough to have a vibrant and diverse community full of people who are excited to share their stories and experiences. On Oct. 6, I attended the Crimson Culture Gala, a celebration of diversity at the university. The photos below were captured as I learned new dances, met incredible people and tasted delicious food. I hope this photo essay will encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and attend an event that you may not have considered.

On Nov. 10, the Honors College Assembly and South Asian Society are hosting Diwali at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Ballroom.
