Name: Benton Davis

Position: Design Team

Benton Davis is a Junior from Huntsville, Alabama, currently studying Theatrical Design and Production with a concentration in Scenic and Lighting Design, as well as Journalism and Creative Media with a concentration in Film.  Truly a man of many hats, he enjoys creating art in all its many forms.  He has designed for many University of Alabama Department of Theatre and Dance productions, including designing projections for The Drowsy Chaperone, sound for The River, and lights for The Merchant of Venice.  He is also an avid performer in his own right, having performed extensively in musicals and plays with local community theatres in Huntsville, as well as many student and department produced productions at The University of Alabama.  He is also a musician and multi-instrumentalist, and writes and produces his own music.

On campus, in addition to his extensive work with the Theatre Department, he is the Production Coordinator for the Gamma Gamma Cast of Alpha Psi Omega, a national theatrical honors society.  In this role he supports productions such as Guerilla Theatre, a 10-act cabaret of short student-produced acts, as well as Greater Giving, a large charity performance event benefitting 5 Horizons Health Services, a local organization that seeks to provide care for people with HIV in the Tuscaloosa area, as well as outreach, advocacy, and education on sexual health.  Alpha Psi Omega is his family at The University of Alabama and holds an incredibly special place in his heart.  The very first time he shared his own original music in front of an audience was at a Guerilla Theatre event his sophomore year.

When he is blessed with a little free time in his usually chaotic schedule, Benton has a wide variety of hobbies he dips into to help destress.  He is a lover of all things horror, from movies to TV to video games, and is rarely happier than when curled up on the couch with some popcorn watching a good scary movie.  He enjoys playing video games, primarily horror games and single-player action games, with his favorite game probably being Resident Evil VII.  He is an avid Dungeons and Dragons player, and usually serves as the Dungeon Master for a group of friends.  He finds a lot of joy in creating fantasy worlds and telling an exciting story collaboratively with other people.  He also collects vinyl records, both new and old, and enjoys trips to Oz Music to dig for hidden gems and exciting new releases.  Some of his favorite musical artists include Ghost, The Pretty Reckless, Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers, and Poppy.  And even when he should be taking a break from his art-heavy classes, he still often spends his time drawing or learning to play his favorite songs.
