#HealthyHonors - Sophie Regard Here's how UA Honors Students keep up with their #FitWit “I was always pretty active in high school- I rode horses, played volleyball, and ran track. The biggest thing that’s helped me with the stress of school has been to get my blood flowing. I love to go for runs, hit the gym, or simply walk outside. Anything to break a little sweat keeps me balanced. I’ve noticed it makes me much more productive too if I mix things up as I study. As far as eating goes, of course it’s much harder in college...

#HealthyHonors - Michaela McLean Here's how UA Honors Students keep up with their #FitWit “It can be a challenge to maintain a healthy lifestyle in college. It is so easy to snack late at night and grab unhealthy food when you are on-the-go all the time. However, half way through my college career I made a commitment to live healthy from the inside out. As a dance major and healthy-living advocate, I make health and fitness a priority in my everyday lifestyle. On top of attending dance classes, I attend Pure Barre and run at the Riverwalk 3 times...

#HealthyHonors - Isabel Palmer Here's how UA Honors Students keep up with their #FitWit “I wake up every morning at 5am to go to rowing practice, which makes me even more sleep deprived than the typical college kid. One of the ways I make sure to stay healthy and ready to perform for rowing, despite the lack of sleep, is by eating healthy and listening to my body. I try and pack nutritional snacks like trail mix or fruit so I can eat during the day without being tempted to go to Chick-fil-A in between each class. While I...

#HealthyHonors Here's how UA Honors Students keep up with their #FitWit Pacific Jackson “I’ve always looked for ways to both stay in shape and experience nature. Hiking has got to be my favorite hobby though. Not only is it great exercise, but it also clears my mind. While I don’t get to hike much at school, I have a few trips planned for this summer. I’ve been hiking since I was very young (as pictured) and plan to keep hiking throughout my...

Meredith Parks

Position: Designer Class: Freshman Major: Mechanical Engineering Hometown: Jarrettsville, MD   Meredith wakes up every day ready to get’er done. She currently studies Mechanical Engineering hoping to understand how things work and design some cool machines. Meredith has had a love for art since coloring in her sister’s library books in elementary school (they were boring in black and white) and enjoys drawing, painting, and animating. She also loves running and taking in the scenery. Her dream job would be an imagineer for Disney as it appeals to artistic and engineering abilities. But she also aspires to be as smart as the brave pioneers who created the Snuggie. Most of the time you can find Meredith roaming in the engineering quad, the library, or the woods. Her most prized achievement was earning the title “dance queen” at prom for awkward dancing but she promises she did not peak in high school and continues to impress her college roommates with “the worm” and other professional dance...
