Campaign for Southern Equality

The South is changing due to the courage and strength of the LGBTQ+ community. The Campaign for Southern Equality believes that LGBTQ+ Southerners possess the courage and resilience to be architects of liberation; that there is a moral mandate to respond to acute needs – often for legal and health services – in the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals and families; that CSE’s work is inextricably bound to the legacy, and future, of racial equity and economic justice movements in the South; and that every person – including those conflicted about or opposed to LGBTQ+ rights – can become an ally. The Campaign for Southern Equality is fighting for LGBTQ+ equality in the south, and they are working to accelerate that change through:

  • funding and training grassroots organizers and activists to support a new generation of LGBTQ+ leaders
  • providing access to resources and services for LGBTQ+ individuals
  • organizing in response to immediate political threats and building political power through long-term strategies
  • programs such as the Legal Equality Program, Southern Equality Fund, and the Community Health Program
