Hi, my name is Amber! I am a sophomore who was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Having grown up in a college town, I thought the first thing I wanted to do was move away from The University of Alabama. It wasn’t until I fell in love with computers during my senior year of high school that I realized the potential of the amazing school in my backyard! I am currently pursuing my degree in Management Information Systems (most people have no idea what that is, but I like to explain it as a mix between a business degree and a computer science degree) with a double minor in International Business and Global and Cultural Perspectives.

If you can’t tell by my two minors, I love to travel. I know that is a cliché thing to say, but it’s true! I’ve always been intrigued by different cultures and foods from around the world. Before COVID, I was supposed to be studying abroad this semester through a program called Semester at Sea (SAS). Through SAS students are able to live on a cruise ship while also attending class. The ship sails to 10-12 different countries each semester while the students earn college credit and learn about new cultures and meet amazing people. This adventure, however, has been rescheduled until Spring 2022! After this trip, the number of countries that I will have visited will be higher than my age (22 countries by age 21). It is my new life goal to always try to keep the number of countries that I visit higher than my age.

Until I am able to travel and explore the world, I will continue to pursue my domestic interests. I am currently serving as the Treasurer for the Alabama Information Management Society (AIMS), volunteering for the Culverhouse LIFT program, and Intern at Insuresoft. When I’m not doing homework or spending time with my friends and family, you can often find me acting like a grandma as I watch musicals and complete one of my favorite quarantine hobbies, puzzles. I hope to use the rest of my college experience to gain life long friends, memories, and skills that I will cherish forever.
